Online Doctoral Degree Education
Search for your degree now! Many of my colleagues are furthering their careers in teaching and administration with online doctoral degree education. You can do the same! I've compiled excellent resources for those planning to pursue an Ed.D. or Ph.D. online.Online degrees are at the cutting edge of education. Leading institutions offer innovative, highly respected programs that you can pursue in addition to your work and home responsibilities. It's a win-win-win! Ed.D. versus Ph.D.When looking at a doctoral degree in education, there are two main categories: Ph.D. and Ed.D. In short, a Ph.D. in Education typically focuses on research in learning and education, while an Ed.D focuses on teaching practice (hands-on, classroom learning). Sorting out which degree to get can be confusing. The key is to ask yourself what you want to do with your doctoral degree in education. If research is your focus, you'll want a Ph.D. That degree prepares you to work in a research setting at a university, think tank, nonprofit, or government agency. If your dream is to uncover the inner workings of students, education organizations, teacher preparation, etc., go for the Ph.D. On the other hand, maybe you want to become an expert in classroom teaching. Get thee an Ed.D.! People who pursue Ed.D. degrees become lead teachers -- principals, teacher preparation experts, workshop leaders, curriculum directors, and more. The focus is not on research but on practical application of research. How computer-savvy do I need to be?Good news: you do NOT have to be a computer genius to succeed in online doctoral degree education! You will need to: * Send and receive email * Conduct research online (your program will provide training in this, usually from your university's library experts) * Participate in a chat room online * Use video chat functions, such as Skype * Use basic MS Word or similar programs, such as MS Word, Powerpoint, and Excel See? It's not so bad. Don't let a little bit of Internet catch-up stand in the way of your education! How to find the right program for youThe key to success is diligent research. Fortunately, that's easier than ever with my handy search box. You can look for programs that interest you, then click to receive free information from each one. They'll be happy to hear from you.
